Hero Aviation Helicopter Pack Mod (1.12.2) – Real Helicopters
Hero Aviation Helicopter Pack Mod (1.12.2) adds real helicopters to Minecraft. Currently, the pack includes 3 helicopters: 2 civilian and 1 military, available in different colors. It features realistic engine and shooting sounds, propeller movement, and overall, the helicopters have pretty good models. The weapons can shoot, kill, and destroy blocks. Note: At the moment, the helicopters have very inconvenient controls. Since Immersive Vehicles does not officially support helicopters yet, the author uses airplane physics. By default, you can ascend and descend in the helicopter without even starting the engine, but nothing more. To fly, you need to start both helicopter engines and then increase the throttle like an airplane. The helicopter will move forward, and you can steer left and right, as well as change altitude.
Features:
- An in-game handbook item for instructions on how to use this pack. Craft with a lever, stick, and book in any order.
- The helicopters listed in the spoilers above
- Engines and main rotors to go with each aircraft. Each aircraft has a specific engine and main rotor you must use (see the spoiler above for aircraft-engine pairings).
- Working aircraft lights and instrument panels
- Four weapons to attach to the Apache or Huey (equipped with gun mount) with different types of ammunition. Beware: these weapons can damage blocks as well as mobs/players. Do not shoot at anything you don’t intend to destroy (especially with explosive rounds!)
- The M230 chain gun will point where you are looking (don’t forget to account for gravity and airspeed when aiming!) [Apache only]
- The hydra rocket pods fire straight ahead. Currently, you can place two on each wing of the Apache, or 2 on the Huey gun mount. Alternatively, you will be able to place high-fidelity rocket launchers from the DKZ Industries Automotive Branch pack (created by LauraDarkez2001) when they’re released!
- The hellfire missile racks can be placed on each wing like the rocket pods. They will try to seek a mob, vehicle, or block if you’re looking at one when you fire, and they produce a big explosion. [Apache only]
- The M134 minigun can rotate up/down but not left/right. It can be equipped on the wings or Huey gun mount, and fires at a very high rate of fire!
- Instruments for ammo indication, Primary Flight Display (PFD) that comes default in the AH-64, EC-145, and CH-47 (but can be added to other aircraft as well), and an Engine & Fuel Display
- External fuel tanks that can be attached to each wing of the AH-64 (in place of one of the weapons). Each one can hold 10 blocks/buckets of fuel (lava or fuel from another mod), so 2 external tanks will double your flight time! The fuel gauge currently won’t show fuel in these tanks, but you can see how full they are by looking at them. They will slowly drain their fuel into the vehicle’s fuel tank if the vehicle’s tank isn’t full
- Unique audio for the helicopter engines and weapons
- Multiple colors and textures for each aircraft (except the Huey and Chinook, which currently only come in green)
- Custom bench-like seats for the Huey and Chinook to make them seem less cramped (they can be used in any aircraft though)
- All cockpits include moving flight controls. The Huey also includes moving rotor components that simulate real-world collective pitch inputs
- The Apache features custom cameras that allow you to see from the nose or the chain gun. The nose camera will follow any weapon, and if the chain gun is the selected weapon, the gun camera will follow the chain gun. These make it much easier to aim and shoot while flying, and they can help with landing, too. Make sure you have the HUD enabled in the config so you can see which weapon is selected in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Robinson R22:
- A small but classic copter that is often used as a trainer. It may be used for scouting or light utility purposes as well. Great for flying around looking for villages or other features!
- Engine: Lycoming O-320
- Wheels or skids: Skids
- Seats and cargo: 2 pilot seats or 1 pilot and 1 crate
Eurocopter EC145:
- A modern light-medium helicopter used for various purposes, including medevac, police, VIP transport, and military, to name a few. Load it up with players or cargo and go on a trip!
- Engines: Turbomeca 1E2
- Wheels or skids: Skids
- Seats and cargo: 2 pilot seats and 4 passenger seats or crates
AH-64 Apache:
- A deadly attack helicopter designed during the Cold War to destroy Soviet tanks, this gunship is still in use today and remains at the top of the ground-war food chain. Employ its 30mm chain gun, hydra rockets, and hellfire missiles to destroy your enemies (and your world, if you’re not careful!)
Engines: GE T-700:
- Wheels or skids: uses 2x AH-64 Main Wheels (for the front) and 1x AH-64 Tail Wheel (for the back)
- Seats and cargo: spots for 2 pilot seats and 2 external fuel tanks; both seats can fly and control all weapons!
UH-1 Huey:
- An iconic Vietnam-War-era military helicopter that is still useful today, this medium utility helicopter is great for moving players or supplies. As a bonus, it has spots for two side-facing M60 machine guns to fight off attackers, and an optional gun mount that can support rockets and miniguns!
- Engine: Lycoming T-53
- Wheels or skids: Skids
- Seats and cargo: 2 pilot seats, 6 passengers seats or crates, and 2 side-facing gunner seats
CH-47 Chinook:
- A heavy-duty military and civilian helicopter. Easily recognizable due to its tandem (front and back) rotors that give it massive lifting power and enable it to carry loads where few other helicopters can. The downsides are that it requires a large landing area and burns a lot of fuel (but don’t worry–it also has a massive fuel tank!). This version seats 2 pilots, 2 side-facing door gunners, 1 ramp gunner (can only be placed when the ramp is open), and 16 passengers or cargo crates. Perfect for when you want to move everything you own to a new base!
- Engine: Lycoming T-55 (to place the engine, look through the back ramp and you should see the engine placement hitbox coming out of the ceiling)
- Wheels or skids: uses 6x CH-47 wheels (provided with pack)
- Seats and cargo: 2 pilot seats, 16! passenger seats or crates, and 3 gunner seats (1 on each side and 1 at the back ramp)
- Note: There are 2 different rotors included. Both function the same, but the aft rotor faces and turns in the opposite direction for realism.
